Who we are
Poochouse is a UK-based dog-friendly travel recommendation service operating at poochouse.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.
What data we collect
We collect the following personal data when you use our site or submit an enquiry:
- Enquiry data — when you submit our trip recommendation form, we collect your email address, your travel dates and preferences, and information about your dog. We also collect any optional details you choose to share.
- Property owner enquiries — if you submit our owner enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, property name and location, and any additional information you provide.
- Analytics data — we may use basic analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors.
How we use your data
We use the data you provide to:
- Send you a handpicked cottage recommendation based on your brief
- Follow up on your enquiry if needed
- Respond to property owner enquiries
- Improve our service over time
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, profiling, or any purpose beyond the above. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Our lawful basis
We process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, to provide the recommendation service you have requested. Where you have provided your email address to receive a recommendation, we also rely on your implied consent to contact you with that recommendation and any necessary follow-up.
Where your data is stored
Enquiry data submitted through our forms is stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only to Poochouse. Google's infrastructure is GDPR-compliant. We do not use any third-party email marketing platforms to send our recommendations — responses are sent directly from our email address.
How long we keep your data
We retain enquiry data for a maximum of 12 months from the date of submission, after which it is deleted. If you would like your data deleted sooner, please contact us at travel@poochouse.co.uk.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

Some links on this site and in our recommendations are affiliate links. When you click through and make a booking, we may earn a small commission from the property owner. This costs you nothing and does not affect the price you pay. We only recommend properties we would genuinely send a friend to.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies in two ways. First, essential cookies required for basic site functionality and to remember your cookie preferences. Second, with your consent, Google Analytics cookies that help us understand which pages people read most often. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any tracker that follows you across other websites.
When you first visit Poochouse you'll see a banner asking whether you're happy for us to load Google Analytics. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is sent. If you accept, Google Analytics records anonymised information — what pages you visited, your approximate country, and your device type — to help us understand how the site is used. IP addresses are anonymised before being sent to Google. You can change your decision at any time by clearing your browser's site data for poochouse.co.uk.
Google Analytics data is processed by Google in line with their privacy policy. We've configured our setup to anonymise IP addresses and to deny advertising consent by default.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. We recommend checking it periodically.
