A contemporary house in Bude with a hot tub, a woodburner and sea glimpses from the garden.

Four bedrooms, Bude's beaches on foot, the Coast Path in both directions.

The Bude Coastal House is a well-presented contemporary property in Bude — one of north Cornwall's most appealing small towns. Eight people, four bedrooms, three bathrooms. A woodburner in the living space. A private hot tub and sea glimpses from the enclosed patio garden at the rear. Bude's beaches and the South West Coast Path are walkable. Three dogs welcome throughout.

The layout is unusual — access is via the first floor from street level, opening into a beautifully lit stairwell with a skylight. The living space is downstairs, with bi-folding doors opening to the garden. Bude itself is the convenient kind of town: a tidal swimming pool cut into the seafront rocks, sandy beaches, independent shops, restaurants and good infrastructure without the overcrowding of more famous destinations. The A39 nearby makes Cornwall and Devon equally accessible for day trips.

Interior+

Street access is at first floor level through a beautifully lit entrance with a skylight. Head down to the ground floor living area — corner sofa, Smart TV, woodburner, and bi-folding doors leading directly to the garden. A snug with a further Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher; a utility room with washer-dryer and shower alongside it.

Back up to the first floor and the four bedrooms: a master super-king with en-suite shower room, a king-size, a twin and a bunk bedroom (children up to fourteen). A bathroom with freestanding bath, separate shower and WC.

Exterior+

Enclosed patio at the rear with sea glimpses, garden furniture, a hot tub and an outside shower with hot and cold water. Private parking for one car at the front; further roadside parking nearby.

The practical detail.

Nearest year-round dog beach
Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth, just up the coast, stay open to dogs all year — the easy answer in high summer.
Nearest big beach
Bude’s town beaches are within walking distance and Widemouth Bay a short drive south — though Crooklets, Summerleaze and Widemouth all restrict dogs in summer (Summerleaze allows dogs on a lead).
Walk from the door
The town beaches and the South West Coast Path are on foot from the house, so a car-free beach day is easy.
Dogs welcome
Up to three dogs, by arrangement with the owner.

A short guide to Bude and the north Cornish coast.

Bude is the kind of north Cornish town that makes practical sense: multiple beaches, a tidal swimming pool cut into the seafront rocks, a canal that runs inland, independent shops and a golf course on the headland. It's better supplied than most coastal towns of similar size without being overcrowded by it.

Summerleaze and Crooklets are the main beaches — both sandy, both facing the Atlantic, both with surf. The South West Coast Path runs in both directions from the town: north toward Bude Haven and beyond; south toward Widemouth Bay (three miles) which is popular with surfers and families. Northcott Mouth, a rougher beach for wilder days, is a short drive north.

The A39 makes Bude a good base for the rest of north Cornwall and Devon. Clovelly is sixteen miles north. Padstow around thirty miles south. Tintagel and its coastal drama is around twenty miles.

Three dogs welcome. The outside shower after beach walks is a practical detail that earns its place.
