Jurassic Coast

A ground-floor apartment in the heart of Lyme Regis.

Two bedrooms, high ceilings, period character, a courtyard to sit in — and the Jurassic Coast on the doorstep.

The Lyme Regis Apartment occupies the ground floor of a converted Victorian station hotel just a short walk from Lyme Regis town centre and the Cobb harbour. The building has held onto its period character — high ceilings, stained-glass windows — while being refitted to a good contemporary standard throughout.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, with a king-size en-suite and a twin. The open-plan living space connects a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a sitting room in one easy flow. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's off-road parking for one car and a separate courtyard at the rear — not attached to the apartment but accessible via the car park.

Interior +

The main living space is open-plan: kitchen, dining area and sitting room in one room with a wall-mounted TV. The kitchen is equipped with a Lavazza pod machine, electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Starter pods provided.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed with a walk-in en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is a twin. There is a family bathroom with bath, shower over, and WC. Bed linen and towels included.

Exterior +

There is off-road parking for one car with bike storage. The courtyard sits at the rear of the building — accessible from the car park rather than directly from the apartment, so worth knowing for evening use or if your dog needs outdoor access quickly.

Note: there are two steps to the exterior. Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am.

Charmouth (about 1.5 miles) is the larger fossil beach; its East Beach welcomes dogs off-lead year-round, with the Heritage Coast Centre running fossil walks.
Walk from the door
About half a mile to the seafront and Cobb harbour; the South West Coast Path runs through Lyme in both directions (lead on the harbour and exposed cliff stretches).

A short guide to Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast.

Lyme Regis sits at the western edge of the Jurassic Coast — the UNESCO World Heritage stretch of Dorset and Devon coastline famous for its fossil beds, limestone cliffs, and the quietly dramatic light that comes off the Channel in autumn and winter. The town itself is compact and walkable, with the Cobb harbour at one end and the beach stretching the other way beneath the cliffs.

The South West Coast Path runs both east and west. Heading east to Charmouth (1.5 miles), where the Heritage Coastal Centre on the beach organises fossil-hunting walks along the shore. Heading west toward Seaton, Beer, and the Jurassic cliffs beyond. All of it excellent walking with a dog.

The town centre has a good selection of independent shops, galleries and restaurants — many with a focus on local seafood. The Cobb harbour area has particular charm in quieter months when the summer crowds have thinned. Worth making a morning of the market if timing lines up.

Nearby Charmouth has its own beach and the Heritage Centre. Nearby Colyton's tram — a narrow-gauge electric railway that follows the River Axe estuary through nature reserves — makes a pleasant half-day outing.
